the Stanford Library Catalog, can be searched to locate books, journals, Stanford theses and many
other materials. Please note that in order to locate articles published in journals you must search a
database
such as
Chemical Abstracts Online
or
Web of Science (SciSearch).
Socrates provides methods for
recalling
materials that are checked out and for
paging
materials that are stored off-site.
Stanford also has access to numerous
electronic resources
to assist you in your research. Please note that while some resources are available to all of our
patrons, many are restricted to patrons with
SUNet IDs.
Reference assistance is limited to patrons with current Stanford IDs during regular daytime
hours. Reference questions may be
submitted online.
Also, the

provides contacts for library specialists in specific subject areas.
Due to limited staffing resources, reference assistance is not available to visitors.
