Databases for Chemists and Chemical Engineers
Beilstein and Gmelin Crossfire at Stanford University: Installation
There are now two ways to access Beilstein and Gmelin — the web via
DiscoveryGate and via the Commander client software. Below are setup
instructions for both methods.
Note: it is possible to “hop into” the client version from the
web version (e.g. if you want to export results to ISIS for Excel). In order
for this to work you must install client software before installing
DiscoveryGate software and you must also run the “hop into” program
in the DiscoveryGate directory on your hard disk.
1. Beilstein Crossfire via DiscoveryGate (Web Version)
Go to
DiscoveryGate
and download software (i.e. plugins, java files) if you are on a PC. Nothing needs
to be downloaded if you are on a Mac. Note:
- Popups have to be unblocked.
- Only IE and Safari are supported browsers.
- User must have admin level privileges on their computer as Java updates
have to be installed.
Choose “Search Databases.” In upper left corner is a pull down menu
of Databases that includes Beilstein Crossfire.
2. Beilstein Crossfire via Commander Client Software
Download Crossfire client software
