- Web of Science (SciSearch)
- Web version of Science Citation Index and Current Contents. Stanford faculty
and students only. SciSearch includes Science Citation Index and all of the
Current Contents series as a web database. Pre-1974 years of Science Citation
Index are at the Falconer Biology, Physics, and Lane Medical Libraries.
Alerts, a current awareness service that allows you to get an email
message for new items on topics of interest, is also available via
LANL.

- ABI/Inform (1971+)
- From ProQuest — many fulltext articles in business, finance, management, etc.
beginning 1991 and Wall Street Journal, fulltext 1995+.
Stanford Only. One of the largest electronic sources of business
information. Citations provide complete bibliographic information, indexing, and

business news and analysis from around the world.
- Expanded Academic ASAP
Updated monthly. (1983+)
- Abstracts are available beginning 3/93 to the present. Expanded Academic ASAP
provides cover to cover indexing of more than 390 periodicals in science and
engineering. Coverage includes trade and industrial publications, journals
issued by professional and technical societies, and specialized subject periodicals,
as well as “special issues” such as buyers’ guides, directories, and
conference proceedings. For earlier years, back to 1918, the print equivalent,
Applied Science and Technology Abstracts (AST),
is available in the Engineering Library. For problems with AST or specialized
assistance, contact the Engineering Library.
- Biocommerce Abstracts (Slough, England: BioCommerce Data, Ltd., 1997-). Vol. 18,
no. 1 (6th Jan. 1997)-
- Published semimonthly, with cumulative volumes issued quarterly. Notes: Continues

- BioethicsLine
(1973+)
- Through Ovid from the Lane Medical Library. Produced jointly by the Kennedy
Institute of Ethics and the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the BioethicsLine
database includes more than 47,000 records of English-language materials on
bioethics. Documents are selected from the disciplines of medicine, nursing,
biology, philosophy, religion, law, and the behavioral sciences. Selections from
popular literature are also included. Covered document types include journal and
newspaper articles, monographs, court decisions, bills, laws, and audiovisual
materials. Approximately 100 primary sources and 40 indexes and databases are
scanned for citations.
- BIOSIS via ISI Web of Knowledge
(1926+)
- BIOSIS indexes the worldwide literature of research in the biological and
biomedical sciences. Stanford has access to BIOSIS data covering 1926 to the present via
ISI Web of Knowledge, and 1969 to the present via the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
- Chemical Abstracts (CAS) Online
- Available through:
- SciFinder Scholar (client-server)
- Stanford students, faculty, and staff only. No training required.
CAS is available Mon–Thurs, 5pm–5am; Fri, 5pm–midnight; Sat, midnight–3pm;
Sun, 3pm–5am Mon. Chemical Abstracts Online is the most comprehensive index
for chemistry and chemical engineering, covering materials published in all
types of formats.
- Dissertation Abstracts (1881+)
- Stanford only. Dissertations Abstracts (through
ProQuest Digital Dissertations) is a definitive subject, title, and
author guide to virtually every American dissertation accepted at an
accredited institution since 1861, when academic doctoral degrees
were first granted in the United States. The database covers more
than 1.2 million doctoral dissertations and masters theses. More
than 40,000 titles are added each year. In addition, citations for
thousands of Canadian dissertations, and an increasing number of
papers accepted abroad, are included in the database. Professional
and honorary degrees are not included. All subject areas are
covered. Abstracts are included for a large majority of the degrees
granted after January 1980. British and European dissertations are
included in the database from January 1988 forward. In addition,
abstracts are included for Masters Abstracts from Spring 1988 to the
present.
- EI/Compendex (T) (1884+) engineering

industrial robots.
- History of Science, Technology, and Medicine (T) (1976+)
- This is the electronic version of two annually published bibliographies:
(1) CURRENT BIBLIOGRAPHY IN THE HISTORY OF TECHNOLOGY, published in the journal
TECHNOLOGY AND CULTURE; and (2) CURRENT BIBLIOGRAPHY OF THE HISTORY OF SCIENCE
AND ITS CULTURAL INFLUENCES (CBHS), published in the journal ISIS. Coverage
begins with the 1987 CBHT and the 1976 CBHS and goes forward to the most recent.
Searches in this file are actually sent to a database maintained by the Research
Libraries Group as part of their CitaDel service.
