SUL Cataloging Format Integration Implementation Policies: April 1996
MARC 006 Field
-
ORIGINAL AND VARIANT EDITION CATALOGING
- Add 006s to book records to reflect
non-book accompanying material
- Add 006s to reflect the various aspects
of multi-format materials.
N.B. Catalogers who catalog non-book
material will monitor the creation of
multiple 006s for multi-format materials,
especially interactive multimedia
materials. In fall 1996, we will revisit
this decision and determine if we need to
develop a limit to the number of 006s we
will include in records along with a
priority list of material facets to be so
represented.
