These guidelines are written with a view to
maximizing matching potential of bibliographic
records against RLIN (Marcadia) or OCLC. The goal
is to create a brief record that has enough
accurate data to automatically match against full
catalog records, rather than having enough data
to be recognized by a person. The data elements
are somewhat expanded beyond those required
according to the procedures in the Acquisitions
Manual, Ch.2.1E: Creating new bibliographic
records for acquisitions purposes.
