Procedure for bringing Stanford original script institution records from OCLC to Symphony

1. Check SmartPort’s properties. Set “Title control number source” to “d” (Accession number)
Set “Strip junktags” to YES

2. Copy the institution record id in Connexion.
3. Start SmartPort and connect to the OCLC institution records database
.
4. Paste institution record number into search box and click search.
5. Click the Capture button to download the record. Choose “Match and load” (i.e. create new record) or “Replace current record” as appropriate.
6. When the record is loaded and appears in the capture window, make any necessary changes and then click Save.
7. Add a 910 field to the Symphony record to identify it as an original script record. The format of this 910 field is:
- <code>/<yyyymmdd>/<initials followed by 1>
The “code” is one of the following three:
8. You may need to finish the record by means of other Symphony wizards (e.g. Add Item to create an item record, Modify Title to change call number, add MARC holdings record, input barcode).
