    Routing Audio/Visual Materials to MARC

For all incoming Audio/Visual materials excluding digital maps and materials that are routed to MUSIC:

    • Remove shrinkwrap and security seals (after you have determined that

    • we will accept material)

    • Library Campus messenger flags should be filled out as follows:
        Space at top:
          MARC
          Date
Control number [this is the most important piece of information and should never be omitted]
Do not put SUL order number
        To:
          Library/Home location
          Leave remainder of spaces blank
        Instructions:
          Fund code
          Receiver initials
          Any special instructions

    • Special instructions for Videocassettes and DVDs:
      • Slip  flags into plastic sleeve covering title and/or program notes
(for plastic containers) or inside box (for cardboard containers).
Open plastic containers all the way up to slip flags in if fit is too snug.
Do not rubberband to container unless there is no other way to attach them.
        Never tape flags to container.

    • Special instructions for Laserdiscs:
      • Place flags inside jacket with end sticking out.  Don't
worry too much about whether flags will fall inside and be
invisible--Cataloging staff will check them as they arrive to sort out
        any priority items.
