Receiving New Materials for SAL3
Holding code = SAL3-H
for monographs; SAL3-SER-H for serials
Home Location = INPROCESS
[Current location] = INPROCESS
Item type = STKS-MONO if the item is a monograph; STKS-PERI if the
item is a serial.
852 |c = STACKS
*IMPORTANT NOTE: For libraries other than SAL3,
our practice is to put the permanent shelving location in the home
location field, and INPROCESS in current location. But for SAL3,
home location should also be set to INPROCESS. An automated procedure
will update it to STACKS when the item is received by SAL3. While
it is INPROCESS, patrons can place an in-process request in Socrates.
After it has been updated to STACKS, the request link in Socrates
will change to a SAL3 page request.
A permanent
barcode for the item should be placed horizontally on the upper
left corner of the outside front cover, half an inch down from
the top edge and half an inch in from the spine.
A white
"SAL3" flag should be inserted into the middle of the item
(to prevent it from slipping down) before it leaves Monograph Receiving.
The flag can be foound in the Forms/Flags folder.
Tinies should go to GREEN/LOCKED-STK, not SAL3
PAGE-SP
For SAL3 items that have the "Page to Special
Collections" request, process as usual for SAL3 materials
except for the following changes:
Library = SAL3
Home loc = PAGE-SP
Holding Code = NH-INHOUSE
Current loc = INPROCESS
DO NOT barcode the item. Affix a piggyback barcode to a printout of the record.
Insert the printout and a white "PAGE-SP" flag and route to to the
next processing location.
