Smartport (Z39.50 server)

Setting Properties in Smartport

• Right click on the SmartPort icon in the toolbar. Choose Properties to open this window.

• Under Bibliographic Record Load Options choose Match and Load.
• Click on the gadget next to “title control number source” to open this window:

• Highlight “Accession number (3001)”
• Click on the right arrow button
• Click OK
• Click on the gadget next to the “Call sources” field to open this window:

• Using the pull down arrows, choose
  • Classification: LC
  • Entry ID: 050
  • Click Add
• Repeat steps to select Entry ID: 090
• Click OK
• Finish choosing property options using preferred library and format:

• Verify options = yes
• Strip junktags = yes

• From Toolbar, click on SmartPort (lightening bolt)
• Check the box next to the server that you want to connect to
• Click Connect

• Enter search terms in search field
  • You can use the pull down arrows to access other indexes (e.g., ISBN)
• Click on Search

• Highlight an entry from the results list and click Display to see the full record
• Uncheck Formatted Box to see MARC view of record
• Smartport Search Summary Rules
• Qualify Search bt Record Type or Pub Date

• Click on Capture
• Check defaults and make change(s) if necessary
• Click OK
