- TAB to get among fields within a screen (or within a tabbed area in a screen).
- TAB to highlight nextstep choices (hit RETURN to execute the nextstep once you have highlighted it).
- There are function key shortcuts to issue any wizard command that is on your toolbar. Also, you can assign function keys for:
[tab forward] tabbing forward among tabbed areas on a screen
[tab backward] tabbing backward among tabbed areas on a screen
[search] the combination search-item screen (same as InfoVIEW)
[help] goes to the online Workflows help
[print] to print a screen
- Hitting return at any screen with nextsteps will issue the leftmost nextstep.
- You can set Workflows so that any nextstep can be chosen with the keyboard:
- Under the menu, go to Preference-Desktop-Windows
- The last option is the “Next step key equivalence”
- Choose “Numbers”
- You will then see an underlined number along with descriptive text for each nextstep. Now you can hit ALT-# (where # is whatever number is in the nextstep box that you want) to do that nextstep instead of clicking.
- You can set Workflows so that you can hit the ESC key to close a window instead of clicking on the “Close” nextstep or the “X” at the top right corner:
- Under the menu, go to Preference-Desktop-Windows
- Click the box to turn on “Use ESC for closing window”
- Any time there is a radio button set of choices on a screen, you can use the arrow keys to highlight your choice.
- TAB to the radio button fields
- Arrow until your choice is highlighted
- TAB to go to the next part of the screen
- Any time there is a dropdown list on a screen, you have two choices for keyboard shortcuts:
- You can use the arrow keys to find your choice:
- TAB to the dropdown list
- Hit the down arrow to pop up the whole list, and use the up or down arrow until your choice is highlighted
- Hit RETURN (The whole list will close, and your choice should be in the dropdown list box)
- TAB to the next field to continue.
- You can type your choice in directly (you have to know the full spelling)
- TAB to the dropdown list
- Type your choice
- TAB to the next field to continue
- You can use keyboard strokes to use the menus.
- Hit ALT. (“File” will be highlighted)
- Hit the underlined letter of whatever menu you want (That menu will be highlighted and the menu will expand)
- Continue hitting the underlined letter until you are at the final choice you want (The menu will continue to expand as you hit keys)
- Hit ENTER to issue the highlighted choice.
Hints:
- If more than one choice has the same letter, hit the letter again, and it will go to the next choice for that letter. Hitting the letter multiple times and it will cycle through all the choices for that letter. If you pass your choice, continuing to hit that letter will cycle you back to your choice.
- If you start to go down the wrong path, hit ESC to back up one level.
- You can use the arrow keys to move around the menus:
- Hit ALT to highlight “File”
- Arrow around until you have highlighted the choice you want
- Hit RETURN
