Stanford users have access to SciSearch Plus at LANL through the World Wide Web. The URL is http://search.lanl.gov/
SciSearch Plus at LANL is the application developed by Los Alamos National Laboratory to search SciSearch, Social SciSearch, and Arts & Humanities Search.
SciSearch is an international, multidisciplinary index to the journal literature of science, technology and medicine. Updated weekly, SciSearch covers over 5,900 journals. The database is produced by ISI and is based on Science Citation Index. SciSearch covers 1945 to the present.
Social SciSearch indexes over 1,700 journals in sociology, psychology, anthropology, and other social sciences. It covers 1973 to the present. Arts & Humanities Search indexes 1,130 journals in language, literature, and the arts from 1975 to the present. SciSearch Plus at LANL allows the user to search all three of these databases simultaneously or to search any combination.
In addition to searching by traditional methods such as author, title, and abstract words, cited reference searching is also available. A known paper is searched to identify more recent papers which cite the earlier work. In this manner other papers can be identified which might be of interest.
