Institution Searching

SciSearch at LANL: http://search.lanl.gov/

To search for an author's institution, select one of the field names on the Search page. Select Institution from the list of searchable fields.

The author's institutional affiliation or reprint address is indexed as it appears in the article.

Some journals give the address of the primary author only.

In these cases only one address will appear in the database.

If you search for Stanford, you'll miss articles by Stanford authors if their address doesn't appear in the article.

Use abbreviations when searching for institutions.

The real challenge in searching the institution field is to keep in mind that this field contains many abbreviations.

Refer to the list of standard ISI abbreviations.

Use unique words (Stanford, Rutgers, etc.) or search your topic in different ways:

Some common abbreviations are:
  • acad
  • biol
  • chem
  • ctr
  • dept
  • exptl
  • fed
  • fnd
  • genet
  • inst
  • lab
  • mat
  • med
  • molec
  • nucl
  • phys
  • physiol
