Cited reference searching allows the retrieval of references which cite a particular paper.
Alerts allow you to register for the service and then create a search strategy which will be matched automatically against each new weekly update.
General search form
The general search form looks like this:

General search allows you to find articles by author, title words, abstract words, journal subject categories, journal, or author affiliation.
General search procedure
Type author names, title words, abstract words, journal name, and institution in the spaces provided on the general search page.Select the appropriate field names using the pop-up lists of fields.
Select Tips/FAQs for help with searching.
Information in different fields is combined with AND unless you select another Boolean operator.
- If you enter a name in the author field and stanford in the institution field, you will find only authors with institutional addresses at Stanford.
Select a range of years to search.
- Notice that the default is the most recent three years.
Select a language and a document type.
- Generally you'll search all languages and all document types.
Select a maximum number of records to display.
Select a sort.
- You can sort results by date, by the number of times cited, or alphabetically by first author, article title, or journal source.
- The default sort is by relevance rank. Records containing the largest number of occurrences of your search terms are listed first.
