Indexes can help you identify articles in scholarly journals and other resources. These include indexes in paper and electronic formats. Resources marked with the icon are licensed for the non-profit educational use of Stanford University. If you are having problems accessing databases from off campus, see information on proxy access. ABELL: Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature (1920+) "lists monographs, periodical articles, critical editions of literary works, book reviews, collections of essays and doctoral dissertations published anywhere in the world."

ABI/INFORM Global index to business and management literature with much fulltext, including Wall Street Journal (1984+)

Academic Search Premier from EBSCO is a general index with many fulltext articles.

AccessUN (1952+) indexes current and retrospective UN documents and publications, plus providing fulltext of resolutions and selected meeting records.

Africa-Wide: NiPAD, 19th century + incorporating South African Studies and African Studies

Agricola (1970+) covers worldwide literature on agriculture and related topics. Includes abstracts

Alternative Press Index (1991+ available on the Web ; 1969-71; 1974+ shelved at Green Library Information Center Z7164.S66A5) indexes periodicals devoted to social change, including some gay/lesbian periodicals.

Alt-PressWatch provides fulltext of "a collection of newspapers, magazines and journals of the alternative and independent press."

America: History and Life (1964+) covers U.S. and Canadian history. Includes abstracts

Anthropology Plus (late 19th century +) includes Anthropological Literature and Anthropological Index.

ARTbibliographies Modern (1974+) "provides full abstracts of journal articles, books, essays, exhibition catalogs, PhD dissertations, and exhibition reviews on all forms of modern and contemporary art"

Arts & Humanities Citation Index (1975+) covers over 1,100 major journals across 25 disciplines in the arts and humanities. Search by author or title, or use to find who has cited an author's work. ATLA Religion Database (1949+) includes some fulltext (ATLAS)

Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals (1930s+) a comprehensive listing of journal articles published worldwide on architecture and design, archaeology, city planning, interior design, and historic preservation

Contains information on materials by and about African Americans, Africa and peoples of African ancestry.

British Humanities Index (1915+ Green Library Information Center AI3.B7)

Business Source Premier (Ebsco) provides full text for over 2,800 scholarly business journals. This database provides full text (PDF) for more than 300 of the top scholarly journals dating as far back as 1922.

Chicago Tribune Index (1972+ Green Library Information Center AI21.C4N49) 1985+ is available in America's Newspapers from NewsBank

Chicano Database (1967+) includes some citations for earlier years. A comprehensive bibliographic information resource about the Mexican American experience identifying the Chicano body of literature, including the broad Latino experience of Puerto Rican, Cuban and Central American immigrants.

Film Literature Index 1976-2001 on Web (1973+ Green Library Information Center Z5784.M9F53) includes reviews of films (about a 1 year lag) and discussions of various topics related to films and television.
