For Stanford Users
Interlibrary Borrowing obtains materials that are not available
at Stanford University and are needed to support the teaching,
learning, research, and other University-related work of Stanford
faculty, students, staff and visiting scholars. To obtain materials
for personal use, please contact your local public library. Visiting scholars are eligible to use the
service. Users affiliated with the SLAC
National Accelerator Laboratory,
and the Law,
Business,
and
Medical schools
should submit their requests to those libraries.
What May Be Borrowed
Most published materials can be obtained. Materials which may
not be borrowed include materials for group use; materials owned
by Stanford; reference materials, rare books, and books published
before 1800. In its effort to comply with current copyright law,
Interlibrary Borrowing rarely requests entire issues of periodicals.
Placing a Request
After completing a one time registration, the request forms will default each time you log into your account with your SUNET ID and password. Submit separate requests for each item needed. If you have specific time constraints,
please note them in the appropriate place on the request form.
Status Checks and Notification
Patrons can review the status of their request by logging into their ILB account. Patrons will be notified by e-mail when materials arrive. Books
must be picked up at the Circulation Desk, Green Library (1st Floor, East Wing).
Microforms must be used in the Media-Microtext room, located on
the lower level of Green Library (East). Article requests are delivered electronically. Stanford Interlibrary Borrowing abides by the terms of loan set by lending libraries. Periodically, loaned material is restricted to "Library Use Only." These materials are placed in Stanford's Special Collections' reading room (2nd floor, Bing Wing). Patrons must comply with Special Collections' policies when using material on loan from another library. Patrons are responsible for all fines charged by lending libraries when materials are overdue or lost.
Status checks may be made by phone (725-1278), or by e-mail to
stfborrowing@stanford.edu.
